David Pidcock - Burngreave Community Radio / BCR 103.1FM, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK: 4/18 August 2010.
WARNING: see reservations below about technical shortcomings of the recordings / other.
The torrent is two of his Wednesday morning show broadcasts on this local community radio, 4 and 18 August 2010. It's posted as a sort of "sampler" to alert people who might find Pidcock's subject matter interesting. I have no connection with BCR. Songs, adverts, station identifiers, weather news removed. (The adverts are for local businesses only and for this limited torrent and its likely also-limited, non-local audience, it seems reasonable to remove them). In each case I'm afraid I missed the first 20/28 minutes of the 2-hour slot.
Audio mp3s produced from streaming by their website (they also broadcast free-to-air on FM locally).
Recorded for the torrent at frugal settings in order to produce small files (with consequent minor loss of audio quality):
16 kbps / 22kHz / Mono / CBR.
Files respectively 7.93MB / 7.60MB approx.
=David Pidcock=
I obtained Pidcock's book The Crash of 2008 about the banking crisis and monetary reform and I find he has a couple of slots on this local community radio. He is an Englishman who was brought up a Roman Catholic and converted to Islam many years ago. My occasional interest is in his views on the banking system; the remainder I am either neutral on, uninterested in or sceptical about.
=Wednesday 4 August 2010, 10-12AM=
First 20 minutes missing.
This episode is about the UK banking crisis and its aftermath. It contains excerpts from the UK TV program "Dispatches" on C4 (presented by Will Hutton) that aired a few months ago. Discussion of disguised bonuses and large salaries despite the banks being at death's door two years ago. Why lame duck banks seem to get unconditional support from the taxpayer. (Remember that expression "lame ducks" in the context of the UK's real economy industries in the 1980s!?) The banks stuffed with newly created money enabling them to go on a gambling binge raising the stockmarket and commodities prices.
=Wednesday 18 August 2010, 10-12AM=
First 28 minutes missing.
I had been expecting another show on banking but this is on other topics, I include it without any particular recommendation or disrecommendation and flames will be ignored. The host's cuing of recorded extracts etc fails now and then. Assertions made / areas addressed include:
--Excerpts from material about the late Ron Wyatt, archaeologist investigation of "fossilised" remains of a putative Noah's Ark. "Look for Ark material from Ron Wyatt on YouTube". (Pidcock remarks that Stephen Dawkins is speaking tonight, Wednesday 18 August, on UK Channel 4 TV at 8 or 9PM? on matters related to the ground covered in his broadcast today).
--The true location of Mt Sinai in Saudi Arabia.
--St Paul and "fabrication" of the accounts of the Abrahamic covenant being superseded.
--Alleged Biblical mistranslations; Sinaiticus version. (Lots of potential disinfo IMHO behind claims about Sinaiticus not necessarily from Pidcock but from those pushing new Bible versions based on them).
--Concept of the Trinity is alien and God is indivisible.
--the Red Sea crossing; (last time I looked there was no ancient Egyptian recording of this miracle... tomb of Menepthah the reputed Pharaoh of the Exodus was missing but then the coffin and body were found in separate locations so he didn't go missing presumed drowned when the parting of the waves closed...
--Remarks concerning Hugh Pymm (sp.?) and forgiveness of debts, inflation reducing the value of debt, banks wanting scarce money etc.
=Technical shortcomings / suggest BCR create a torrent link.=
A few dropouts, their streaming may possibly be overloaded, I think most of the gaps are actually their playback equipment not cuing properly / other issues. The presentation is a bit rough/amateurish, microphone overblow, unexpected advert breaks. It seems they've been going only a few months. No doubt things will improve...
I looked at the website and found Pidcock co-hosts a show also early Friday mornings and I listened to a bit of one but the factual/opinion content is interrupted too much with general chit chat, traffic news, co-host interjections etc for my taste.
If anyone here is connected with BCR they might consider recording Pidcock's Wednesday 10-12 show and putting up a general torrent link for it, even if it is without being cleaned up first or adverts removed etc., given the streaming may possibly be limited.
I won't be doing any more torrents of this show because I won't have the time, also the streaming quality isn't great on my connection and I don't have the necessary knowledge to record and edit properly. But if the samples suggest it may be of interest to you, then you can listen to David Pidcock live on FM if local or by streaming. http://bcr1031fm.com/default.aspx
