This documentary was truly a breath of fresh air. Once you watch this I am sure, you will, like I do, give this young film-maker the credit he deserves, especially for asking questions, that at times, could have got him into quite some bother. I am sure this Israeli is on the ADL's watch-list!

Watching this made me feel sorry for the film-maker, as you will see by the end, he is sadly a little clueless, in that he'd only have to be here on ConCen for a week and he'd realise there are some here who paint all Israelis, Jew's etc with the same brush, even when faced with such people as himself, trying to get to the truth by himself, in a society under media lockdown.

The True Stories strand, which showcases the best international feature documentaries, continues with Yoav Shamir's controversial, personal exploration which asks, "What is anti-Semitism today?" Is it a real and continuous danger that requires eternal vigilance or a tactic used by right-wing Zionists to discredit and cow their critics?

Among those he interviews are Abe Foxman, head of the Anti-Defamation League, who is adamant that anti-Semitism is rife and must be exposed; while Norman Finkelstein, author of The Holocaust Industry: The Exploitation of Jewish Suffering, claims that anti-Semitism is being used for political gain.

Opinions differ and tempers flare but Shamir's directness and wry humour, as shown in his other films including Checkpoint, 5 Days and Flipping Out, elevate the mood as he tackles extremely difficult questions.
