DopeCast #299 12th December 2011
On this year's last episode of the Web's Favourite Cannabis Podcast, the Dopefiend talks about how the UK government have responded to the recent call by the Global Commission on Drug Policy that governments review their current drug strategy by launching a Home Affairs Select Committee inquiry onto the UK drug policy, and examines whether these types of inquiry have ever yielded real results in terms of policy changes, and why this impending inquiry might be different.
Next, the Dopefiend reads a response from T-Dub to the recent recommendation from a listener that DopeTribers investigate the possibilities of furthering their education for free with a Chinese government scholarship, and also discusses the phenomenon of drug terminology leaving its counterculture origins behind and becoming mainstream.
Heading into the VaporLounge, the Dopefiend mentions a thread recently started by Febo at thegrowreport.com about whether finely ground ganja could be used as a form of cannabis snuff, and talks about why this might not be the best method for ingesting our secret sacrament, but how many DopeTribers have discovered the pleasures of eating vapo-poop, which is made orally active due to having been heated to over 180 degrees celcius.
Moving on to fire up his Cloud vaporizer and hit some fruity Purple Kush, the Dopefiend talks about how Febo has found that vaporizing can result in over-production of mucus, the Dopefiend describes how his trialling of the new Cloud vaporizer has somewhat remedied this problem, as the vapour is cooled by ice and moisture-conditioned before inhalation, and is therefore less of an irritant.
Following a musical interlude, the Dopefiend returns to the recent spat involving GW Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of cannabis-based medication Sativex, and Peter Reynolds, the new leader of cannabis law reform campaign organisation CLEAR, and talks about why the angry letter-writing and complaining of Peter Reynolds might not be the best way to go about advancing the legalisation cause in the United Kingdom, and how it seems to beturning more people off than on.
In this week's Cannabis News: Canadian cannabis campaigner Istvan Marton dies on hunger strike, Nevada's decade-old medical marijuana law risks being overturned, London hospitals are on alert over suspected "rogue ecstasy", a Minnesota boy turns in his parents for smoking cannabis, authorities discover yet more drug tunnels between Mexico and the US, and is Miley Cyrus really a stoner?
