In some 3,000 quotations, Parrinder (comparative religion, U. of London) has tried to be comprehensive and selective, ancient and modern. In each topical section, he includes only one quotation each from the Old and New Testaments so the Bible doesn't overwhelm all else. Then he turns to such sources as the Koran, Zoroastrian Gathas, Hindo Vedas, Buddhist Dhammapada, and the Chinese Tao Te Ching.
