1. Biblical Nonsense: A review of the bible for the doubting christians - Jason Long 2005
The Bible is not the word of God.
Biblical Nonsense is a broad look at the tremendous problem of associating divinity with the world’s most popular book. This part-philosophical, part-scientific overview explores the Bible’s divine treachery, scientific mistakes, historical errors, false prophecies, and comical absurdities. Biblical Nonsense also expands beyond these standard reasons for skepticism by tackling the rationale behind the emergence and perpetuation of Christianity, psychological and sociocultural reasons that drive Christians to cling to their beliefs, and illogical methods of argumentation invoked in the defense of the Bible.
Author Dr. Jason Long is a former Christian who condenses the most significant biblical problems into this single volume. Unlike other books in the field that delve into only one topic, this manuscript, comprehensible even to those who have never opened a Bible, is a full-fledged attempt to demonstrate that God’s supposed word is a product of human minds, not divine inspiration. Dr. Long’s fresh experiences in the church and advanced levels of educational enlightenment make him the perfect individual to present this vehemently unpopular, yet undeniably appealing topic.
About the Author
Jason Long attended Middle Tennessee State University where he earned a B.S. cum laude in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Psychology. He completed his debut manuscript, Biblical Nonsense, shortly after earning his Doctorate in Pharmacy cum laude from Mercer University. He attended Church weekly for sixteen years.
2. Wisdom of the Ancient Seers: Mantras of the Rig Veda - David Frawley 1993
The Rig Veda is not only one of the oldest sacred scriptures of the world, but also one of the most misunderstood. Past scholarship has dismissed the hymns of the Rig Veda as being expressions of a primitive animistic mentality that only rarely rose to true spiritual and philosophical heights. David Frawley's book demonstrates that this judgmental view is ill-founded. His fine renderings of select Vedic hymns bear witness to the fact that their composers were sages and seers--powerful poets who knew the art of symbolic and metaphoric communication. The Vedic hymns give us a unique glimpse not into a primitive mentality but a mentality and culture that revolved around the highest spirtual values and visions. This is an important and riveting book, ushering in a new and sounder tradition of Vedic interpretation and scholarship
3. The Occult Laboratory: Magic,Science and Second Sight in Late Seventeenth-Century Scotland - Michael Hunter 2001...($115.00)
The uncanny ability of certain individuals to foresee future events had long been regarded as a characteristic of the Scottish Highlands, but in the late seventeenth century interest in the phenomenon came to a head, stimulated by English scientific and philosophical curiosity about magic, particularly second sight. The natural philosopher Robert Boyle and other English savants investigated these Highland beliefs; they found the region a kind of laboratory, strange yet accessible, where data about unusual beliefs could be collected and theories tested. Scottish authors were also stimulated to write accounts of second sight, notably John Fraser, Dean of the Isles, and the Highland minister, Robert Kirk (1644-92), in his famous work, The Secret Commonwealth. These and other texts are included in this book, making available crucial information about belief systems which might otherwise never have been recorded, and illuminating changing contemporary attitudes towards the relationship between the natural and the supernatural. Contents: TEXTS An Interview with Lord Tarbat, 3 Oct 1678 (Robert Boyle) A Collection of Highland Rites and Customes The Secret Commonwealth (Robert Kirk) Letter to Joh Aubrey on Second Sight Letter to Samuel Pepys on Second Sight Second Sight (John Fraser) Questionnnaires and Responses (Edward Lhuyd and Robert Wodrow, John Fraser and John Maclean) Introductory material (33pp) by Michael Hunter MICHAEL HUNTER is Professor of History, Birkbeck College, University of London.
4. Viridarium Umbris: The Pleasure Garden of Shadow - Daniel A. Schulke 2005...($699.00)
An extensive grimorium of Wortcunning, or herb-magic, the Pleasure-Garden treats of the secret knowledge of trees and herbs as delivered by the Fallen Angels unto mankind. The book's principal concerns are the sorcery and gnosis of the Greenwood, as arising from the varied luminaries of the Eternal Gardens of the Arte Magical. As a grimoire of Spiritual Botany, the Book is a Hortus Conclusus of text and image intended for the indwelling of these plant-spirits. The work encompasses magical practices, formulae, and mystical exegesis, all treating the respective arcana of Nature-Spirits and the powers of individual plants. Magical foci are on devotion, purity, humility, silence, solitude, and the hieros-gamos of wortcunner and plant as a tutelary relationship, in conjunction with the Mysteries of Cain, first tiller of the soil. The whole is intended as a textual reification of occult herbalism within the context of the Sabbatic Craft Tradition.
5. Conspiracies and Secret Societies - Brad Steiger & Sherry Steiger 2006
Name a conspiracy theory that has made its way into the popular mass media, and it is most likely included in this informative and entertaining encyclopedia, which provides an introduction for anyone looking for "the basics" about any of the well-known and even lesser-known theories. Included among the nearly 200 alphabetically arranged entries are Diana, Princess of Wales; Internet--a tool of the new world order; Knights Templar; Raelians; and Roswell, New Mexico, UFO crash. Entries range from short paragraphs to several pages in length, and sources are listed. The writing style is elementary without being condescending. The authors state that they are "reporting without bias." This does appear to be the case, based on reading random entries on a wide variety of subjects.
The index makes up somewhat for the lack of cross-references. A list of "Resources to Assist in Conspiracy and Secret Society Research" includes recommended books, films, and Web sites. The volume is attractively laid out, with black-and-white images, sketches, and photos.
6. Rockefeller Syndicate - Secret Govt
The following is on the historical perspective of just the Rockefeller and Rothschild
connections and in no way attempts to cover every aspect, but will suffice to give
you a basis on which to understand how pervasive the Web of influence is and that
it is a good deal MORE than "merely a conspiracy". Just WHO makes up the ILLEGAL
SHADOW GOVERMNENT, YOUR HIDDEN MASTERS. Some have looked for shadows
of the old illuminati; they look amiss, not seeing that which is all around them. If you
know not the "who" and the "why", efforts will be mis-directed. This is NOT a
"conspiracy", nay, it is a very cold and calculated NETWORK of individuals whose
intent is nothing short of implementation of a "New World Order"; an oligarchic rein
in which *you* serve as little more that slaves in their "technocracy". This network
has every intention to implement a cashless society, for it is they who control every
aspect of finance and banking over the entire globe. They have had about 100 years
to perfect their plans and put them into practice.
